Marietta is a river town a little way up the Susquehanna from Columbia, and where Columbia is a mixed bag, Marietta proper is almost all old - tight streets of close-set homes and row houses, most of them well into their second century. Working here means working in old, close quarters, and that’s a craft of its own.

Old-home plumbing, done with care

The plumbing in these homes has usually been added to and patched by a dozen hands over the decades - old drain stacks, a mix of pipe materials, and fixtures shoehorned into spaces never meant for them. We’re used to it: figuring out what’s actually behind the wall before we open it, and making a clean repair in a house where there’s no room to spare.

Comfort in homes built before central air

Most of Marietta’s homes went up long before anyone thought about air conditioning, and getting real comfort into them takes a plan that respects the house. Depending on the home that can mean careful ductwork, or a ductless system that cools without tearing into old plaster and trim. We look at the actual house and tell you honestly what fits.

Questions we hear from Marietta homeowners

Can you work on the plumbing in an old Marietta row home?

That's a good deal of what we do here. These homes carry decades of added-on, patched plumbing in tight spaces, and we're used to sorting out what's behind the wall and making a clean repair where there's barely room to work.

Can I get air conditioning in an old Marietta home with no ductwork?

Usually, and how we do it depends on the house. Some can take new ductwork; others are better suited to a ductless system that cools without tearing into old plaster. We look before we quote, so the comfort doesn't come at the cost of the house.

“Fantastic company! They have done plumbing repairs and have installed a new HVAC system in my house. They listened attentively to my concerns and answered with feedback and suggestions in a way that I understood the whole process.”

“Tom Falk plumbing has helped us for over 20 years. Their response to calls is very prompt, and needed work is explained and then done efficiently. Recently Jeff proactively replaced our very old main water shut off valves. A few years ago they solved a complicated problem with a century-old bathroom drain pipe. Work areas are carefully cleaned when they're finished. Highly recommended.”

“I wasn’t actually there to meet the guy(s) my dad was. They were late but that’s because their scheduling system didn’t put me on eventhough there was a verbal agreement over the phone. Nevertheless, I recieved professional service and my old AC unit was repaired in a very timely manner and it’s working great! Thank you!”
