Lititz is one of the most sought-after towns in the county - Budget Travel once named its walkable downtown the coolest small town in America, and people have been settling in around it for years. That’s left the town split between older homes near the center and a ring of newer developments, and the two ends keep us busy in different ways.
The developments are due for round two
A lot of those neighborhoods went up twenty-some years ago, which means the original builder-grade furnaces and air conditioners are wearing out and coming due. When one finally quits, most homeowners we meet don’t want another quick like-for-like swap - they want it matched to the house this time, so the far bedrooms aren’t ten degrees off from the living room. Older homes near the center
Closer to the square the houses are older, and that’s where the everyday plumbing comes from - the leaks, worn shutoffs, aging water heaters, and tired supply lines that come with a home that’s been lived in for decades.
