Lancaster runs from dense downtown rowhomes and twins to older homes stretching out toward the township line — and we work across all of it. A growing part of that work is heating and cooling: getting central air into homes built long before it, with new ductwork where we can and ductless where we can’t. Our shop is just west in Millersville, so we’re close by, and we’ve been the family plumbing-and-heating shop around here since 1961.
Central air for older Lancaster homes
Getting central air into an older city home can be done more than one way, and we’ll tell you straight which one fits your house. When there’s a path for it, we’d rather run real ductwork and put in a traditional forced-air system — sometimes borrowing a closet or a chase to get between floors — because for whole-house comfort it still outperforms anything else. Where ducting isn’t practical or would cost more than it’s worth, we go ductless: an air handler in the attic feeding ceiling registers, or wall heads room to room. Every one of these installs is a little different, so we look at the actual house before we quote it.
Sewer and drain work in older Lancaster homes
Homes out toward the edge of the city and into the township were often on septic once, and when the sewer came through they got tied in with long runs of cast-iron pipe — sometimes an L-shaped path across the basement to reach the main. When one of those old runs gives up, we can often reroute the flow to a shorter, straighter path instead of tearing up the whole line. Closer in, a lot of the older neighborhoods run combination drains that carry storm and sewer together, and some homes share lines, so we sort out what’s actually yours before we dig. Downtown, it’s mostly everyday drain work — clogs, backups, and old fittings.
Everyday city plumbing
Between the HVAC and the sewer work, the day-to-day in Lancaster is the usual older-home plumbing — leaks, toilets, drains, water heaters, and the tired supply lines that come with houses this age. You get our own crew and a straight answer, not a sales pitch.
